I highly recommend you give this place a try if you end up in Pismo. This is not your typical Foster since they didn't flambe the rum at the table, but the carmelized bananas and rum on top of bread pudding was very clever and quite delicious. It was served with tomato fume, but on the side, which was wise, and saffron rice, which was not plentiful, but still yummy. I savored every drop! My sister ordered the Sea Venture, which was chock full of shrimp, clams, mussels, salmon, sausage and scallops and the presentation was very appealing. The combo of the large chunks of shrimp and lobster combined with the sauce and puff pasty was perfection. It was so delicious I didn't want it to end. If I could give 10 stars, I would! I ordered the Vol Au Vent after reading other reviews. The Dirty Bird Martini was perfectly "dirty."īut it's the food that was remarkable. Jess, was great! Very attentive and accommodating. It's amazing! We were seated at a booth instead of the ocean view tables at the windows, and I think we were much more comfortable with the exact same views. Moreĭon't let the old school look and feel of this place fool you. Nice selection of wines by the glass though more local wineries would have been nice though they weren't missing entirely. The portions on both of these entrees could have easily fed two people. The pastry appeared to be frozen and not in house but that was redeemed by the sauce of shrimp and even more lobster than the other dish. The entrees we ordered was the Halibut served over a lobster risotto with a surprising amount of lobster chunks, the fish cooked perfectly and the vol-au-vent which was creme rich and heavy sauced piece of puff pastry. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer which was good, a bit overcooked and chewy but super hot and crispy and included some battered and fried jalapeno rings that added a nice zing served with a nice mayonaise based dipping sauce. There is a long bar in the back of the restaurant with another area for events deeper into the building. The restaurant is large with 2 good sized dining rooms and two good sized outdoor decks all facing the ocean overlooking the beach. The staff were routinely friendly and helpful with cheery dispositions. Pismo Beach two stories above as part of the hotel SeaVenture. The restaurant location is perfect for this as sits right on the edge of. We went on a Monday night before July 4th and the place was apparently busy before 6 but we got there after the crowds had left hoping to watch the sunset. Every appetizer(get the scallops), every entree (Get the filet & lobster for 2), every dessert (get the begnets ) was out of this world. I can't end the review without mentioning their restaurant. Especially helpful was Joey who was there for us from check-in to check-out. The staff are very accommodating and are there to make sure you are having a great experience. But the cheaper ones on the side of the hotel are also nice. Make sure you get one overlooking the ocean. They have balconies with private hot tubs. That said, the resort itself is very nice overlooking the ocean. It's perfect for someone who just wants to relax and not feel any pressure to do much. However, the beaches are pristine & beautiful and attract surfers from all over. It's a typical Southern Californian beach town stuck in the 60's. Truth be told, Pismo isn't the classiest of beach resorts. This was the best choice for staying and dining in Pismo.
